Nancy Kane is Professor of Management in the Department of Health Policy and Management and Associate Dean for Educational Programs at Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health. Her research focuses on the financial and managerial performance of health care organizations. Recent and ongoing projects include:
- Analysis of individual health insurance markets at the state level — how insurers and consumers behave, and policy implications
- Assessment of the financial performance of hospitals in a local market area in which a nonprofit hospital converts to investor-owned status
- Development of quantifiable measures of charitable activity, tax-exempt value, and financial performance of health care organizations
- Case studies of the feasibility of implementing managed care tools in a variety of international settings
