Timothy Thahane

Dr. Thahane was a panelist for the Forum’s discussion on The Cost of Inaction.

Honourable Dr Timothy Thahane was appointed to the position of the Minister of Energy, Meteorology and Water Affairs in June 2012. Following the May 2012 General Elections, Honourable Dr Thahane was elected to the National Assembly to represent the Lesotho Congress for Democracy (LCD) Political Party for Likhetlane Constituency No. 16.

Besides his political career, Honourable Dr Thahane is currently a Member of the Global Health Group Advisory Board of the University of California at San Francisco, California, USA, and a Member of the Harvard Health Ministerial Leadership Forum on Global Health, Harvard University, Boston, USA.

In 1999, Honourable Dr Thahane was awarded L.L.D (Honoris Causa) at Memorial University of Newfoundland, John’s, Canada. He obtained an M.A in Economics from the University of Toronto, Canada in 1968; while in 1967 he obtained a B.A (Hons) in Economics and B.Com (Management and Labour Relations) from Memorial University of Newfoundland, St. Johns, Canada.
